Hikvision accelerates its evolution as an artificial intelligence Internet of Things (AIoT) company. The strategy is to break away from video and imaging technology-oriented business structures such as CCTV, and present AIoT-based prediction and analysis technologies and solutions. The company also plans to implement an open ecosystem in which anyone can participate in development.

On the 29th, Hikvision held the 'Shaping Intelligence Summit 2022' in Bali, Indonesia, and unveiled its AIoT business strategy.

Vice President Frank Zhang of Hikvision said, “Hikvision has established the ‘AIoT 4I Strategy to Enhance the Partner Ecosystem’. The key is to lead the evolution of the AIoT ecosystem by Hikvision, partners, and users.”

The AIoT 4I strategy is established based on △intelligence technology △intelligence device △intelligence ecosystem △intelligence application sector.

Vice President Zhang said,”Hikvision's intelligence technology is expanding from video/imaging to artificial intelligence (AI) and multi-dimensional perception. With this as a base, we will establish an intelligence ecosystem by developing and distributing AIoT-based devices and software.”

He added,”We will open up all devices, platforms, and collaboration resources to users and customers, so that they can become the main axis of the Hikvision ecosystem. The ultimate goal is to allow true access for anyone to develop applications.”

Vice President Keen Yao said, “There are various problems, such as concentration of population and the explosion of data, that have not been surfaced before. Hikvision has a role in optimizing decision-making by analyzing various data and securing resilience and efficiency, and furthermore, this is the future for Hikvision.”

He added, “AIoT will play a key role in solving these issues. It will accomplish multidimensional data convergence and analysis, defense against external threats, and efficient decision-making.”

On the same day, Hikvision revealed a key means of implementing an open ecosystem, Hikvision Embedded Open Platform (HEOP) 2.0.

HEOP 2.0 is a platform for technology partners to develop their own applications on Hikvision's hardware to fit customer requirements and installation scenarios. This allows anyone to develop and apply an application suitable for the smartphone operating system. Technology partners, such as system integrators, are free to make applications and security architectures using the bases of Hikvision products.

A senior manager of Hikvision, Simon, said, “All Hikvision products, including network cameras, access control devices, thermal imaging cameras, video recorders and security solutions, will be supported by HEOP 2.0. Customers will be allowed to establish various business scenarios and implement an IoT environment suitable for them.”

He added, "Our technology partners may change anything except for the core hardware, such as Hikvision’s chipset. We are able to share success stories of the HEOP project as well as can commercialize it.”
