On the 15th, SK picglobal, a subsidiary of SKC, announced that it had received the “Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL)” certification from UL, a global safety certification company. This is the second company that SKC invested in to receive ZWTL certification following SK nexilis.

SK picglobal's Ulsan plant recently received a ZWTL certified 'Gold' rating from UL.
Gold is awarded when 95% or more of the total waste is recycled, and it is the second highest grade after Platinum (100%). The annual waste recycling percentage reaches about 99% at the Ulsan plant according to SK picglobal.
SK picglobal is recycling by-products generated in the wastewater treatment process as fertilizer. Sodium carbonate discharged from the process is being reused for the metal smelting process at other enterprises. The company was able to raise the recycling rate for domestic waste generated from offices and restaurants by improving separate discharge facilities and improving awareness of separate collection.
SK picglobal is also promoting a plan to recycle waste synthetic resin and dust waste as auxiliary fuel and raw material extraction, respectively. The company will promote the 'landfill zero strategy' such as minimizing waste landfill and incineration to obtain the ZWTL Platinum rating.
SKC is making efforts to solve environmental problems caused by waste, such as launching a recycling of plastic waste business that turns plastic waste collected in Korea into oil through pyrolysis.
An official from SKC said, "We will continue to increase the waste recycling rate as part of achieving the goal of net-zero plastic and net-zero greenhouse gas by 2030 and 2040, respectively. We will contribute to build a sustainable society, by enhancing waste environment, social, and corporate governance (ESG) management throughout our business.”
