“Before the product development stage, we seek for pervasive simulation technology in each stage that all users can use. We will make it easy for anybody to use.”

These were the words of Steve Pytel, the vice president of product management and marketing at Ansys, who came to Korea for ‘Simulation World Korea 2022’ which was held on the 27th.

‘Simulation World Korea 2022’ is an annual event where Ansys introduces visions, new technologies, and the latest cases of clients related to cutting-edge industrial manufacturing processes, future mobility, and sustainability. It was held on the 3rd floor of Lotte Hotel World.

Vice president Pytel introduced the vision of ‘pervasive simulation technology’ where not only experts, but all users can easily use and expand on core technologies.

Vice president Pytel said, “Ansys provides a highly accurate simulation through an extensive solution portfolio,” and said, “We are continuing innovation so that companies and engineers can quickly and efficiently develop high-performance products and provide them to customers.”

He revealed that they are focusing on providing a cloud native experience. When customers process intensive workloads based on high-performance computing (HPC), they can reliably bring their own licenses to their own cloud and use them. Using Ansys solver products and solver products of other companies, they provide a cloud native experience so that they can run simulation tasks on the cloud.

Ansys is a company that has been established for 52 years and has had mergers and acquisitions (M&A) of 29 companies. They revealed that they will continue to have M&A with companies capable of producing ‘synergy’. Vice president Pytel said, “They are chosen based on if they can help clients, and if there will be synergy.” He then explained that, “We acquired a material information company called Granta years ago, and resulted in different performances based on material. We acquired them in order to create more accurate simulation results, and we were able to strengthen our simulation capabilities.”

Seok-hwan Moon, the branch manager of Ansys Korea, said that, “We expect Ansys Korea’s growth to be at 18% this year,” and also said that, “Our sales have doubled compared to 3 years ago, and the number of employees have also increased by 2.5 times. We have had double-digit growth every year.” He then added on, saying, “In the past, there were many enterprise companies, but with the adoption of the cloud, they have expanded to SMB and startups.”

Ansys plans to go beyond manufacturing, and to expand into hospitals, pharmaceuticals, research, construction, and etc. Branch manager Moon said, “Though the semiconductors, high tech, and automobile categories make up the largest part of our sales, our products and services are also used often in simulations, such as when they test medical devices in the field of healthcare or have clinical trials in the field of pharmaceuticals. The simulation solution is being used in new industries and is growing.”
