DaiShin Information & Communication, Ssangyong Information & Communication, Metanet Digital, etc. to compete for the 3rd and 4th projects of the 2nd year of public cloud conversion.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and National Information Society Agency (NIA) will place an order for the 3rd and 4th projects of the 2nd year of 'Administrative and Public Institution Information System Cloud Conversion Project' within this month.

The 3rd and 4th projects each cost about 15 billion won, with about 80 systems for each business expected to be converted to the cloud. Final discussions are in full swing ahead of the finalization of the business plan.

LG Hitachi and Selim TSG, which won the 1st and 2nd projects in the past, will not participate in the 3rd and 4th projects.

LG Hitachi and Selim TSG are focused on the 1st and 2nd projects and aiming for the 5th and 6th projects which are expected around September.

It is widely believed that operators will not be able to participate in consecutive projects because each operator has to respond to several Cloud Solution Providers (CSP) as well as other issues such as supply and demand of human resources.

As a result, DaiShin Information & Communication and Ssangyong Information & Communication, which applied for the 1st project, as well as Didim 365 and Metanet Digital, which participated for the 2nd project, are all expected to compete for the 3rd and 4th projects. This is because after the 3rd and 4th projects, the competition for the 5th and 6th projects will become more intense.

DaiShin Information & Communication and Ssangyong Information & Communication determination to participate is firm. Metanet Digital, a latecomer in public cloud conversion, is also planning to participate.

In addition, the possibility of new operators joining cannot be ruled out. Request for proposal (RFP) were delivered to about 10 conversion companies for the 1st and 2nd projects.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and NIA will select the preferred operators for the 3rd and 4th projects through a proposal presentation early next month.

Meanwhile, all the CSP that will provide cloud services to organizations participating in the 3rd and 4th projects have already been decided.

KT Cloud, which almost monopolized the 1st and 2nd projects, has reportedly won roughly half of the 3rd and 4th projects. Naver Cloud, NHN Cloud, and Gabia have also received orders.

In particular Gabia has won roughly half its participations for the 4th project, emerging as a powerhouse in public cloud conversion.
