Differentiates from S21 by improving sensor function
Suppliers of camera parts for Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S22 series smartphone, which is expected to release this month, are almost the same as for the previous model. This is due to camera specifications are kept the same as those of the previous 'Galaxy S21’. As the supply chain management (SCM) stays similar to that of its predecessor, the Chinese companies will increase their supply.
For the screen size, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series will be released in three models: basic (6.06 inches), plus (6.55 inches), and ultra (6.81 inches). The screen size is slightly reduced compared to its predecessor, and the Ultra model inherited the Galaxy Note design and features. It is the first product to integrate the flagship lineup with the built-in S Pen.
The Galaxy S 22 camera pixels are kept the same as in the past. However, it differentiated from its predecessor by improving the sensor function to enhance high-resolution video shooting and night shooting functions. The basic front camera module was found to be supplied by CammSys, MCNEX, and CoAsia. A 40-megapixel single camera will be mounted on the front.
On the back, three cameras will be mounted: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10-megapixel triple optical zoom telephoto camera. The rear main camera module is known to be supplied by Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung Electronics (self-made), and Partron. CammSys and Power Logics will take charge of the rear ultra-wide-angle camera. The rear telephoto camera is expected to be supplied by Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Power Logics.
The front of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is equipped with a 40-megapixel single camera. This camera is supplied by Namuga and CoAsia. A total of 4 cameras will be mounted on the rear of the Ultra. It is understood that the 180-megapixel main camera is supplied by Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Power Logics. China's Sunny Optical and Namuga will be in charge of the rear 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and Sunny Optical is the main supplier. MCNEX, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Sunny Optical will supply the 10-megapixel 3x zoom camera and 10x zoom dual telephoto camera.
The Galaxy S22 camera module image sensor is supplied by Sony and Samsung Electronics. As for the Galaxy S22 application processor (AP), the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 and Samsung Exynos 2200 will be supplied separately for the Americas and Europe, respectively. Tae-moon Roh head of Samsung Electronics' MX business, said in an article in the Samsung Newsroom on the 21st of last month, "The Galaxy S22 series is a product that brings together the best mobile experience. It will be the most popular product in the Galaxy S series.”
On the 26th of last month, Samsung Electronics sent an invitation to the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022. The Unpacked event will be broadcast live online on the 9th at 10 am (00:00 South Korean time).
