iA subsidiary TRinno Technology is seeking to supply silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors to domestic automakers. Their aim is to apply their parts to vehicles in the second half of the new year.
SiC semiconductors have low power loss and high thermal conductivity. Tesla was the first to apply this technology to their Model 3. Swiss ST Microelectronics supplied SiC semiconductors to Tesla Model 3. When its applied to vehicle parts, there is three times less power loss and an improvement in thermal efficiency.
As demand for SiC semiconductors in the electric vehicle market increases, TRinno Technology is making every effort to supply finished vehicles.
TRinno Technology is being evaluated on its goal to apply their SiC semiconductors to electronic parts for mass-produced vehicles in the second half of the new year.
It is also considering establishing a production line for their SiC semiconductors. iA, the parent company of TRinno Technology, has established a semiconductor joint venture in Jiangsu Province, China. The joint venture has a semiconductor production line. It is producing semiconductors for electric vehicles and is promoting the establishment of SiC semiconductor production lines.
An official from TRinno Technology said, "We are considering establishing a new SiC production line in China."
