A South Korean EduTech startup called PLAT.B announced on Monday that it has officially launched a video answer-based education Q&A platform called “Curi”. Curi is an innovative education application that allows students to upload questions that they are not sure about by taking pictures of the questions with their smartphones and check answers to their questions from tutors through pictures or videos.
One can subscribe to “Curi” by paying $18 (19,500 KRW) monthly. Subscription will provide various unlimited educational explanation services.
Students are able to find answers to their questions without having to wait much as the app provides a fast search speed of 3.9 seconds on average. The app provides key contents that last about 3 minutes on average. Personalized one-on-one tutor service (7 minutes on average) is also provided for students who still need detailed explanations or do not understand explanations provided to them.
As the South Korean government has elevated social distancing to Level 2.5, academic institutes, learning institutions, preparatory schools, libraries, and study cafes will be closed for three weeks. As a result, “Curi” can be utilized as an alternative to contact-free learning through online and self-directed learning method.
The app will be made available through Google Play Store first. For questions regarding the app, one can receive answers through KakaoTalk’s chatting room designated for the app. PLAT.B also plans to have the app available on Apple App Store in the near future.
