It is reported that Germany plans to allow Huawei participate in a process of building 5G mobile network.
In Brazil, the country’s mobile telecommunications companies are publicizing their request to allow Huawei participate in their 5G projects.
Within the global 5G market, these decisions seem natural as the Trump administration, which has strongly pressured countries to exclude Huawei, is set to be leaving the White House soon.
The German government has prepared a legislative bill that includes information that Huawei will not be excluded from the country’s 5G mobile network. It plans to submit the bill to the German Bundesrat sometime this month at the earliest.
Within the bill, the German government requires Huawei and other telecommunications equipment manufacturers not to plant backdoors for cyber hacking.
It also included a clause that may limit use of network technology from a political standpoint. This clause was written in correspondence to a suspicion that the Chinese government somehow intervenes in its native companies such as Huawei.
This decision by the German government was made after the government considered a reality that Huawei is a major telecommunications equipment provider for the country’s three major telecommunications companies that are Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, and Telefonica.
For 4G network, Huawei’s products are responsible for 65% of Deutsche Telekom’s telecommunications equipment and 50% of equipment of Vodafone and Telefonica. These companies are also working with Huawei regarding building their 5G networks.
