Hyundai Motor Company has launched its fourth-generation Tucson compact SUV, which is the top compact SUV seller in South Korea, equipped with new technologies and innovative design.
Hyundai Motor Company held the digital world premiere of “the all-new Tucson” on Tuesday in local time.
The all-new Tucson is the fourth-generation model with its third-generation model launched back in 2015 and it comes with many commercial values such as innovative and future-oriented design, wide space and improved directional stability and safety, powerful performance due to a new powertrain and efficient gas mileage, and comfortable air conditioning and heating system and high-tech infotainment system.
The all-new Tucson is applied with Hyundai Motor Company’s “Sensuous Sportiness” redesign and it embodies a sporty design based on a “parametric dynamics” theme.
“The all-new Tucson completes the “Sensuous Sportiness” redesign and it will be the SUV that represents the company’s progressive and bold mindset the best.” said Lee Sang-yup who is the director of Hyundai Global Design Center.
Its interior is equipped with open cluster (dashboard) and 10.25-inch infotainment system that is under the dashboard, full-touch center fascia, and electronic transmission button system called shift by wire (SBW).
Hyundai Motor Company has drastically improved use of space by applying its third-generation platform. It is 4,630 mm long (150mm more than its previous models) and has a wheelbase of 2,755mm (+85mm). Its legroom in the second row is 1,050mm (+80mm) that is the biggest second-row legroom compared to other compact SUVs. These dimensions provide the all-new Tucson an interior space that is equivalent to that of midsize SUVs.

The company also equipped the car with “fold & dive” seats that can be folded and stored underneath to the second row so that owners of the new Tucson can freely utilize the wide space behind the front row.
In addition, the car’s safety is one of the best compared to other compact SUVs due to its light weight and increased use of hot stamping process. The car’s basic abilities such as handling, quietness, and braking performance are also improved.
The car is the first to be equipped with efficient Smartstream 1.6 turbo hybrid engine that provides powerful performance and efficient mileage and it boasts maximum output of 180ps, maximum torque of 27kg∙m, combined powertrain output of 230ps, and combined gas mileage of 16.2km/l. Three engines are available such as Smartstream gasoline 1.6 turbo engine and Smartstream diesel 2.0 engine.
Hyundai Motor Company applied many high-tech and intelligent specifications for safety and convenience to the all-new Tucson. All trims will come with multi-collision brake, forward collision avoidance, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, and high beam assist. Additional specifications can also be added such as blind spot collision avoidance, safety exit warning, blind spot view monitor, navigation-based smart cruise control, highway driving assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, remote smart parking assist, and rear occupant alert.
