GS ITM will enter the hybrid cloud market that covers both public and private clouds in earnest and it will provide various cloud computing services from IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) to SaaS (Software as a Service). Not only is it going to effectively manage resources through infrastructure-based managed services, but it will also emerge as a cloud computing service provider that performs diagnosis, analysis, and consulting and provides optimization for customers’ businesses.
“We are going to introduce our “U.STRA.” brand for the first time and start our hybrid cloud computing service business in earnest.” said CTO Jung Bo-young of GS ITM. “We are going to work on grabbing the upper hand within the hybrid cloud market as quickly as possible.”
U.STRA holds a meaning that it creates “live systems” by combining cloud technology with current IT resources and services. It is a comprehensive cloud computing service that provides every service that infrastructure-based managed service providers (MSP) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS providers needs.
GS ITM has been gaining experiences by providing cloud computing services to GS Group and foreign customers. It started its private cloud business by replacing GS Energy’s old system with services from Nutanix in 2017.
In 2019, it had carried out domestic and foreign projects such as virtualization of GS Global’s server and Dongwon Enterprise’s SAP system’s U2L (Unix to Linux) migration. Its public cloud business is currently converting a major South Korean beverage company’s online shopping mall into cloud. GS ITEM has secured customers from various fields such as energy, distribution, and university for its public cloud business.
Cloud market’s forecast is also bright as the market has started to draw more attention as it is based on non-face-to-face services that will be very popular during the post COVID-19 era. Major governments and companies are quickly adopting cloud computing services while cloud MSPs’ stocks are hitting the ceiling.

GS ITM is aiming for to be “X-MSP” that surpasses current MSPs.
“MSPs focus on public cloud vendors and either resell cloud infrastructures or manage infrastructures.” said CTO Jung. “Customers want cloud transfer that is optimized for their businesses in addition to saving cost from a simple infrastructure conversion.”
“X-MSP is different from MSP from a standpoint that its goal is optimization of customers’ businesses and provides expanded cloud computing services that cover app managed services and SaaS offering.” said CTO Jung. “Based on our experiences in IT service and understanding of tasks from different industries, we are going to provide our own technologies and knowhow such as conversion to the Kubernetes environment or help with the DevOps environment.”
GS ITM is going to make U.STRA cloud portal public in the second half. Its customers can choose necessary SaaS products from the portal. It already joined hands with companies that specialize in solutions such as groupware and HR that are necessary for company management and registered those solutions as SaaS products.
“We are planning to register various SaaS products so that customers can select necessary products and combine them.” said CTO Jung. “Our U.STRA cloud portal will also be meaningful from a standpoint that we will create a cloud ecosystem by joining forces with software companies.”
“With the launching of the portal in the second half as the starting point, we will establish ourselves as a top hybrid cloud computing service provider.” said CTO Jung. “We are going to focus all of our abilities into providing cloud computing services that are for optimization of our customers’ businesses.”
