After being launched just a year ago, amount of accumulated payments for Samsung Electronics’ mobile payment service called Samsung Pay in South Korea has surpassed $1.79 billion (2 trillion KRW).
Also number of transactions for Samsung Pay has surpassed 100 million as Samsung Pay was released in 7 countries such as South Korea, the U.S., China, Spain, Australia, Singapore, and Brazil. Beside of more than 440 major banks worldwide, Samsung Pay is working with major credit card businesses such as American Express, Union Pay, MasterCard, and Visa and Alipay.

Samsung Pay has maximized level of convenience for its users by not only supporting offline payments but by also supporting variety of services such as online payments, withdrawals and deposits from ATMs, transportation cards, memberships, and gift cards. In case of South Korea and the U.S., total of 4 million membership cards are registered through Samsung Pay.
As amount of use for online payment service, which has officially started in South Korea starting from this year, has increased rapidly, it has taken up about $446 million (500 billion KRW) of total of accumulated payments in South Korea which is equal to about 25%. Number of registered cards for additional services such as ATM, membership, and transportation card in South Korea has surpassed 11 million.
To celebrate one-year anniversary of Samsung Pay, Samsung Electronics is going to select 365 people out of entries that are made until the 31st and hand out free travel vouchers($2,680, 5 people), gas cards ($446, 60 people), and free convenience store vouchers ($8.93, 300 people).
