A scene from the movie Minority Report where people wave their hands around in the air to operate PC programs is to become a reality. ASUS Korea (branch manager Kevin Du) announced on March 2 that it unveiled “WAVI Xtion” at the CeBIT 2011 in Hannover, Germany. WAVI Xtion is the world’s first device that enables users to use gestures to browse PC contents and play them on a TV, eliminating the need for a mouse. WAVI Xtion is composed of a wireless media streaming device and action motion sensor, and can transmit HD contents stored on a PC to a TV via wireless interface. The motion sensor enables users to activate multimedia, game and applications through simple gestures.WAVI Xtion combines PrimeSense’s motion sensor technology with ASUS action portal user interface to enable more intuitive control of applications. WAVI Xtion uses wireless HDMI technology to support contents streaming between PC and TV. Various multimedia contents, such as movies, games and photos can be transferred at a speed of 5GHz within a distance of 25m, so that the PC and TV need not be in the same room.
