The world’s biggest video sharing website YouTube launched its Korean version.YouTube held a press conference with local contents providers at the Shilla Hotel on January 23 and disclosed its Korean version. YouTube’s Korean partners are Mgoon Media, SM Online, CJ Media, JCB, DDH, TU Media, Castnet, JYP, and I-Tonic. YouTube’s Korean service allows users to search and share videos created by its partners. Users can watch others’ recommendations, promotion videos, and website ads uploaded and localized in Korea and easily and swiftly search and enjoy tens of millions of videos posted from all around the world.“YouTube raised a Korean guitarist Lim Jung-hyun to global fame. I hope YouTube Korea and its videos will be the window to the outside world for Korean users and communicator with the world,” said Steve Chen, co-founder and CTO of YouTube.YouTube Korea is not a direct translation of YouTube. It will be a localized version of YouTube which offers the most favorite videos in Korea. YouTube will initiate various marketing activities to promote its services, including a big event in March. “The globalization through the Internet transcends time and space when the media goes global and open. Mgoon can venture into the world through YouTube,” said CEO of Mgoon Media Shin Dong-heon.
