Web Firewall businesses are expected to acquire Common Criteria (CC) approval this year. Public agencies and conglomerate are considering the adaptation of web firewalls. Industry insiders say the web firewall market will be in full bloom this year after the conceptual stage.Industry sources say on January 2 that TrinitySoft and Duel Secure Korea got CC approval and passed security test of National Intelligent Service last year and Monitorapp, Nowcom, Penta Security, and INCA Internet are expected to acquire CC approval for web firewalls as early as at the first quarter of this year. Piolink and Easycerti singed contracts to get CC approval and plan to achieve the goal during the first half of this year.Relevant companies singed contracts to apply for CC approval and have waited to be on the market but the assessment process has been delayed as the approval agency couldn’t meet the demand. The approval process is now in earnest. Companies need to get CC approval and pass security test of National Intelligent Service to provide products for public agencies. As more companies pass the security test, public agencies are expected to adopt web firewalls. Government’s comprehensive data centers in Gwangju and Daejeon will adopt over 100 web firewalls. So far, universities and education agencies have adopted web firewalls and now public agencies are planning to install web firewalls. Conglomerates like Hyundai Motors Group and Doosan and communications service providers are expected to establish more web firewalls based on last year’s result of test run, a sign of growing demand from big businesses.“Though many agreed on the need to adopt web firewalls, the price has prevented the establishment. But when the competition gets fiercer and more companies get CC approval, the web firewall market will grow in the public sector,” said Lee Jang-no, a manager of Piolink.
