World Cyber Games (WCG) 2007 which made its debut in Korea provides an opportunity for IT companies to promote their products. According to International Cyber Marketing (ICM), main organizer of WCG, Laser, Thermaltake, Kingstone, AMD, Sapphire, Toshiba and Samsung Storage Technology Korea are official partners for the tournament this year. In addition, Samsung Electronics, Microsoft, Circuit City, Philips, HP, Samsung Techwin and Falcon Safety are partnering for the event this year. The WCG 2007 Grand Final will be held in October at Seattle’s Quest Field Stadium, where a variety of new technologies will be unveiled.Among those partners, Samsung Electronics has been chosen as an official sponsor in the mobile phone sector. The company will host WCG 2007 Samsung Mobile Challenge where next-generation game platforms will be introduced following computers and consoles. The Challenge is to play ‘Rayman Kart’ game on mobile phones. Global Mobile Tournament will be added next year. Seattle-based Microsoft is preparing broader programs than last year as the company expanded X BOX 360 consoles to four. Circuit City, one of the largest U.S. consumer electronics retailers, will promote WCG 2007 in the U.S.Laser, global high-end peripheral provider, will sponsor the event by providing mouses, keyboards and headsets optimized for games. ICM’s president Hyung-seok Ki said, “It is very encouraging that a record number of 15 global partners are participating in WCG 2007.
