Online game `Maple Story` of Nexon which hits 14 billion won monthly sale across the world will be made for a mobile game device `Nintendo DS`. In a talk with the Electric Times in LA Convention Center, US, on Wednesday as a local time, David Lee CEO of Nexon Japan implied that the project of developing `Maple Story` for Nintendo DS is processing, saying "We interested in characteristics and strategy of contents of Nintendo and decided to develop games for it, and we agreed on a large part of the plan with Nintendo."
Considering that `Nintendo DS` used by Nexon is a product dominating the advanced game markets in Japan and the North-America, it is exceptional that Nintendo adopts a game developed by other company for its DS. Above all, what the partner is a Korean developer is an unprecedented case in the world.
Nexon finished reorganization of the US local corporate Nexon America assigning CEO as a Korean resident in the US in order to penetrate the Japan and US markets with Maple Story for Nintendo, and will start the business with the huge marketing campaign from this summer vacation.
Industry experts analyze that it will show the all-time first combining model in the world casual game market if cooperation of the two companies is expanded to the next generation games `Wii` opened by Nintendo in E3.
