Samsung Electronics plans to rebuild a super-sized IT project master plan valued at 200 billion won which links 70 overseas facilities and the head office in Enterprise Resource Planning.

The company has decided to establish a global ERP in financial sector because of man power, budget and time, but it lately began to reconsider whether the master plan includes logistics, making a taskforce team for the global ERP.

According the relevant industry on April 23, Samsung Electronics laid a taskforce team for the new global ERP master plan under immediate control of Choi Do-suk CEO of Management Support at Samsung Electronics and assigned Park Jong-ahm Executive Director of Samsung SDS as the general manager for the global ERP master plan.

Samsung TF team is in charge of reviewing the process schedule and the plan from the starting point and rebuilding a new master plan for the entire schedule. It originally decided to conduct the global ERP in only the financial sector by reason that ERP for observing regulations became an urgent task despite Gartner, Inc. proposed a simultaneous process of the global ERP in finance and logistics. In the end, the company returned to the beginning point.

The industry predicts that Samsung will drive the global ERP of combining finance and logistics after creating a new TF team and the super-sized project for it is inevitable.

"This TF team is not aiming at conducting the global ERP but reviewing it from the beginning point and fixing its course." "Currently, nothing is determined," said a senior executive at Samsung Electronics.
