Haansoft (http://www.haansoft.co.kr), a leading software company of Korea, unveiled on Wednesday its new Java-based office program `ThinkFree Office 3.0`.
Consisting of `Write` program for writing documents, `Show` for presentation, and `Calc` for calculation of numbers, `ThinkFree Office 3.0` can be used in various operating systems, including Linux and Mac. It also supports 15 different languages, including English and Japanese, being interoperable with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel. With a minimum capacity of 20MB, the new Office version can be installed in portable gadgets such as MP3 players and mobile phones.
Haansoft plans to launch `ThinkFree Office 3.0` next month under dual price strategy - free version and charged ones.
The software company will sell its new Office version for around 50 dollars in packages via offline distributors in the United States such as Apple Store, CompUSA, Office Depot and Costco as well as online sites. It will also supply the new office program to USB storage system and MP3 player makers for prices 10 dollars lower than package products via electronic software download.
As for free version, consumers can use it only in the Internet when they register with ThinkFree Online (http://www.thinkfree.com) site.
"Boosted by the spread of broadband infrastructure and successful dot com ads in the United States, `ThinkFree Office` is expected to be distributed widely. We are confident of revitalization of `ThinkFree Office` as an alternative for MS Office," said Kang Tae-jin, Vice CEO of the company.
"After its introduction at CeBIT 2005 show held last month, we received orders for 30,000 copies from Turkey. The launch of our new Office version is aimed at presenting a new alternative to global users who are accustomed to MS Office," said Baek Jong-jin, CEO of Haansoft.
