A portable MP3 & CD player maker, iRiver (http://www.iriver.co.kr) developed a super slim MP3 & CD player, `SlimX` with 16.7mm in thickness and declared that this will replace existing other CD players.
SlimX is slimmer than Sony`s latest CD players, EJ855 or D-E01 not to mention existing MP3 CD players in the range of 30mm in thickness and it weighs only 180 gram, over 40g lighter than high-end CD players yet supports MP3, CD and FM radio functions.
In addition, its continuous play time is 23 hours in total, more than 10 hours longer than other products of the same kind and its firmware upgrade features support a variety of software functions and it supports caption feature on LCD display of a remote controller for language learning.
President, Yang Duck-joon said "Despite versatile functions and superb performance value of MP3 and CD players has so far not been fully recognized for their relatively cumbersome, heavier characteristics compared to existing CD players.
We now have the capability to even compete with Sony, the world`s best in the portable audio field and we will take over the CD player market that is currently dominating the world portable audio market."
iRiver plans to launch an MP3 & CD bundling marketing by giving away 20 minute language learning MP3 CD to new customers in partnership with a domestic language institute, BCM as well as providing tone generator to existing customers.
It also plans on selling its SlimX on the US market, beginning next January, through a local corporation, which was founded early October.
SlimX will be released on the domestic market around Christmas at the price of 250,000 won. For information contact +82-080-3486-3838
