OLED TV is going to be popularized very soon because it seems that average price of its panel will be decreasing very rapidly. It is predicted that OLED TV will be popularized within a year or two.
According to market investigation business called Display Search, average price of OLED TV during the first quarter of 2015 was $1,165, which fell more than 60% just in 2 years. Its average prices during the first quarter of 2013 and 2014 were $3,218 and $2,601. Its price first reached within $1,000 in the fourth quarter of last year.
Average price of UHD 65-inch LCD TV Panels in the first quarter of 2015 is $636. Price of 65-inch OLED TV Panel is $1,861 which is about 3 times more.
Although the price different is still a lot, it is predicted that the price of 65-inch OLED TV Panel will be $765 in 2018 which is at an equivalent level with LCD. Price of 55-inch will be $536 which is about half of what it is now at $1,030. Price of 77-inch will be $1,308 in 2018, and people are predicting it will face bigger range of decrease of price than a 55-inch.
“There will be competition for popularization of OLED TVs if their prices are only 1.3~1.5 times more than LCD. If other competitors join the OLED TV market that is being monopolized by LG Display, it will contribute to the speed of decrease of price and the time when OLED TV gets popularized will come even faster.” A person in the business circle predicted what the decrease of price will do to OLED TV’s future.

Prices of 55-inch OLED TV in the past and projected prices in the future are $3,275 (2012), $3,077 (2013), $2,312 (2014), $2,013 (2015), $770 (2016), $638 (2017), and $536 (2018).
Prices of 66-inch OLED TV in the past and projected prices in the future are $3,729 (2014), $1,068 (2015), $1,127 (2016), $921 (2017), and $765 (2018).
Prices of 77-inch OLED TV in the past and projected prices in the future are $5,444 (2014), $3,469 (2015), $2,388 (2016), $1,891 (2017), and $1,383 (2018).
