Local broadcasting equipment companies are targeting the Japanese market with new products equipped with high technology. On November 23, related industry officials reported that local broadcasting equipment companies have been participating in broadcasting equipment exhibitions held in Japan in large numbers, and have secured exclusive distributors, thus expediting exports to Japan. Japan is home to some of the world’s leading broadcasting equipment companies, including Sony and Panasonic, but Korean companies are enjoying a favorable reception in the field of solutions which they can target as a niche market. Most of the products that local broadcasting equipment companies are introducing in the Japanese market are those using the latest broadcasting technology, such as HD, interactive broadcasting, and 3D related solutions. Visual Research (CEO Kim Chang-won) is planning to introduce its HD character generator in Japan, mainly targeting cable TV companies making the transition to HD, and has secured many exclusive distributors. Brexel (CEO Lee Yeong-u) and Compix, who recently attended the International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition in Tokyo, are planning to launch HD related solutions in the Japanese market. Brexel is introducing an integrated system of HD virtual studio, HD character generator, HD 3D virtual studio and HD capture, and Compix, a low-cost HD character generator. Also, Comart System (CEO Seol Chang-hun) is planning to launch HD video encoders and decoders.
