The security industry expects that the demand for automobile DVR will increase as it contributes to the arrest of a fire-setter to the national treasure No.1.On February 10, when the nation’s No.1 treasure was set on fire, the incendiary, known as Chae, was recorded by the CCTV installed in a bus. The very scene that he was getting on a bus, holding a bag for a ladder was the critical evidence. The CCTV, an automobile DVR, installed on the bus was the product of KT, a mother company of KT Telecop, the management company of the national treasure. KT lent the device to the bus company in last July.KT BizMecca began to install automobile DVRs and CCTVs on 2,500 buses in Seoul and Kyonggi in the cooperation of ComArt System, a DVR company. It expects that the demand for automobile DVR will increase as the product contributes to the arrest of the incendiary. An official of KT BizMecca said, “The fire-setting proved the effect of automobile DVR in security. We plans to increase our supply of DVR to 10,000 buses, four times as higher as the previous year.”Out of 60,000 buses running on the nation’s road, only 6,000 buses, 10%, have the DVR system. Some buses have the traditional VCR system only to repeat the record per three to four hours so that it is impossible for them to leave the evidence.President Seol Chang-hoon of ComArt System said, “We were shocked that our DVR system contributed to the arrest of the incendiary. This year, we will increase our supply so that one out of three buses will have our DVR system.”
