Envision announced on the 25th that it won the patent infringement lawsuit that was filed by Vieworks against the company.

Envision is a company that sells industrial cameras, optical components, and solutions that go into displays, semiconductors, and secondary battery equipment. Vieworks is a company specializing in medical and industrial imaging solutions.

Vieworks filed a patent infringement lawsuit in 2019, claiming that Envision infringed on its hybrid TDI (Time Delayed Integration) line scan image sensor technology that Envision had patented in Korea and other major countries.

Envision has maintained that TDI line scan image sensors are a core optical component that is widely used for its advantages such as high sensitivity, high speed, and low noise in display and semiconductor inspection fields.

Envision judged Vieworks' TDI patent as a conventional technology in which prior research has been actively conducted and requested a patent invalidation trial.

Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board ruled that Vieworks' TDI patent was invalid in April on the grounds that it did not recognize differences or inventive steps compared to previously developed technologies. Its patent registration has been revoked.

Seoul Central District Court dismissed all claims related to Vieworks' patent infringement lawsuit, and the litigation was concluded.

An official at Envision said, "The technological uniqueness and excellence of Envision's products have been recognized by winning the lawsuit," furthermore, “Envision will continue to strive to support the success of our customers with the world’s highest quality optical solutions and services."
