LG Energy Solution announced this goal in the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report published on the 3rd.

LG Energy Solution plans to complete the RE100 conversion of global battery production plants in South Korea, North America, Europe and China by 2025, and operate them with 100% renewable energy.

RE100 is an international campaign that strives to make up the entire electricity usage from companies with renewable energy, such as wind and solar power, by 2050.

LG Energy Solution's renewable energy conversion rate is 33% as of 2020 according to the '2021 RE100 Report' published by 'The Climate Group' and 'Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)', a multinational non-profit organization. The company ranks first domestically among 14 registered companies of RE100. The company plans to raise the conversion rate of renewable energy to more than 60% by the end of the year.

LG Energy Solution's Polish and United States plant has already achieved 100% conversion to renewable energy in 2019 and in 2020, respectively. Its plants in South Korea and China are also rapidly expanding the use of renewable energy.

LG Energy Solution also unveiled a specific roadmap for achieving mid- to long-term carbon neutrality. After achieving the RE100 conversion of production facilities around the world in 2025, non-production facilities will also achieve the RE100 goals by 2030.

LG Energy Solution’s goal is to achieve zero carbon emissions from electricity, fuel and gas use by 2040. By 2050, the goal is to attain carbon neutrality in all value chains from raw materials (mining) to battery production.

LG Energy Solution stated, “By 2050, we will monitor the carbon emissions of all partner companies, and achieve carbon neutrality in all value chains through the participation in RE100 and supporting carbon reduction activities. We will actively promote the 'Carbon Negative' that converts carbon emissions to negative after these achievements.”

Through the ESG report, LG Energy Solution introduced performance and vision in four key areas for leading ESG management: carbon neutrality, resource virtuous cycle, responsible supply chain management, and organizational culture management through diversity, fairness and inclusion. LG Energy Solution plans to achieve 'zero landfill waste' at all business sites by next year in the area of virtuous cycle of resources.
