National Information Society Agency (NIA) in full swing on nurturing cloud native talents.
Since cloud is the base of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and core infrastructure of private and public sector, they judged that demands ofcloud talents in each sector will continue.
NIA will set up ‘Micro Service Architecture (MSA) Service Design·Development’s course starting next month. MSA is a service architecture can divide each functions into module unit, which makes it easy to expand·distribute·manage, making it suitable for cloud service.
In the course, introduction of cloud native, cloudnative design·development using PaaS-TA, and distribution·operation training will be conducted. Short-term intensive training is provided for developers with basic knowledge of the cloud. It is the first time NIA has opened a cloudnative training.
‘University Open Lab’ that has been operated since 2020 will be expanded. Following last year's 7 universities, 11 universities will open courses related to cloud native this year. In the first semester, 7 universities operate related courses, and in the second semester, 4 major universities, including Konkuk University, will open additional courses.
One of the students said “It can be difficult for non-majors, but I think I understood it well because they explained it by doing actual practice.” Another student thanked NIA by saying, “I was able to get a job at the one I wanted through the class.”
NIA is also operating a test bed ‘PaaS-TA Play Park' where you can practice what you have learned in classes. It supports a cloudnative development practice environment by providing various development languages and frameworks.
Cloud native is a development of the system, service, and application optimized for cloud by using cloud.
According to Forbes, in 2021, 83% of workload of global companies are saved on cloud, which increase importance of cloud native.
In order to maximize cloud flexibility, elasticity, and cost savings, it is essential that applications and service has to become cloud native.
For cloud native, not only MSA is necessary, but also DevOps for fast application development·distribution, containers that virtualize application execution environment, and platform as a service (PaaS) are essential.
NIA cloudnative talent nurturing is also focused on acquiring these elements. The education platform utilizes cloud platform 'PaaS-Ta' that was developed with the leads of the government.
An NIA official said, "As seen in the last vaccine reservation, it is important to implement ICT infrastructure flexibly and agile, and cloud native is essential for this. We need manpower training and PaaS support to expand the cloud native ecosystem."
Cloud native is also a hot potato in the digital platform government Task Force (TF).It is known that discussions are in full swing to transform existing legacy systems into cloud-based systems for flexible public services.
