“It’s time we return to making the world better, rather than living in fear. Innovation is more important now than ever”

Ahead of the opening of 'CES 2022' on the 5th (local time), Gary Shapiro, president of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), emphasized this through social networking service (SNS).

CES 2022 is being held as an offline event for the first time in two years due to the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic last year. It will be reduced in size by half compared to previous years, but demand for innovation has increased. As non-face-to-face activities such as work from home and home classes increase, smart home, augmented reality (AR), metaverse, autonomous driving mobility, and robots have emerged as the hottest themes for CES. The new changes that CES 2022 will present are in all fields between I (individual), home, and business.

At 'CES 2022', mobility, artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics will emerge as one of the most noteworthy complex trends. This is because, due to the global decline in the working-age population and the prolonged COVID-19, non-face-to-face demand to take the place of human beings and replace me (individual) in the field has increased. Technological advances are changing people's lives.

It is in the same context that CTA selected intelligent automation (AI + robot) and the evolution of metaverse as the future technology trends to pay attention to the most in 2022.

CES 2022 shows the possibility of expanding new prospect by convergence of autonomous driving and robot technology with metaverse technology. It should be noted that the number of exhibitions related to future mobility and robots has increased significantly at CES. It is because the prolonged COVID-19 is directly intertwined with social changes such as urbanization, aging, and personalization.

By using robots, productive activities are possible regardless of various contagious diseases, and improvement effects can be obtained in terms of productivity. Robots replace humans in hazardous worksites. If machine learning (ML) is applied, the work completion level can also be improved.

Hyundai Motor Company plans to unveil their robotics-based mobility platform, MobED, at CES 2022. MobED brings changes to delivery and single-person mobility by combining it with motorization and autonomous driving technology. It can replace tasks that humans should do directly, such as drivers. Hyundai Motor Company is also planning to present a future change in the role and form of mobility that robotics technology will bring to human society through the combination with the metaverse.

Hyundai Motor Company said, “The robotics visions to be announced at CES will include the purpose and direction of the robotics business that will dramatically satisfy mankind’s fundamental desire for mobility beyond simple means of transportation.” Hyundai Motor Company will also unveil their robot lineup, which has advanced Boston Dynamics' 'Spot' and 'Atlas', at their booth.

Chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of General Motors (GM), Mary Barra, will deliver a keynote speech (online) for the second consecutive year following last year. Following last year's 'Triple Zero Vision' of zero emissions, collisions and congestion, she will introduce a vision for creating new opportunities using autonomous driving mobility.

Metaverse technology is an important topic at CES even though there are criticisms of excessive technological optimism. Sensorium, a metaverse platform company, is releasing a metaverse platform called 'Sensorium Galaxy'. In the form of a combination of virtual reality (VR), artificial intelligence (AI), and block chain, they plan to implement virtual concerts and music festivals in collaboration with world-famous designers and DJs.
