An application for a tax reduction from one of the negotiators in the Austin, Texas area related to Samsung Electronics' investment in a U.S. foundry plant has been withdrawn.

According to industry sources on the 16th, the application for tax reduction for the Austin semiconductor investment business submitted by Samsung Electronics to the Texas state government website earlier this year was recently withdrawn by the Manor Independent School District. There are a total of three negotiators for the tax reduction for Samsung Electronics' foundry factories, including the Manor Independent School District, Austin City, and Travis County.

The semiconductor investment business tax cut application filed with Taylor, another leading candidate in Texas, is still on the state website. Local media outlet, The Austin Business Journal reported that "A Texas Treasury spokesperson confirmed that the application was withdrawn last week." Austin and Travis County did not comment on it. Samsung Electronics said, "Several candidate sites are still being reviewed and the final investment has not been confirmed."

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jae-yong Lee has been on a business trip to the U.S. since 14th. The industry expects Vice Chairman Lee will confirm the new U.S. foundry plant site worth $17 billion (about 20 trillion Won) with this U.S. visit.
