Environmental-friendly, mobility, and artificial intelligence (AI) arekeys to control the future markets. There is a fierce competition behind the scenes in companies and industries since securing core technology in each of the field is directly related to advancement. On the 9th, the last day of 'Global Tech Korea 2021,’ companies representing domestic batteries, environmental-friendly materials, and electronic components such as SK Innovation, LG Chem, LG Innotek, and POSCO will come out and share changes in the industry. Tech companies that are prominent in each field, such as Xaos Motors, Furiosa AI, Daejoo Electronic Materials, and Enertech International, will also participate.

Tae-jin Kim, head of SK Innovation's Environmental Technology Research Center, will be the first speaker to present ‘Battery Metal Recycling' (BMR) technology. Director Kim is the head of the research center that leads the battery material recycling technology, such as the high-purity lithium recovery technology developed by SK for the first time in the world. With the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market, the number of waste batteries is increasing. If this issue is not addressed, it can lead to serious waste of resources and environmental pollution. Technologies and industries for battery recycling are important. Director Kim will share the technology of recovering nickel (N), cobalt (C), manganese (M) and lithium from waste batteries and recycling them into battery cathode materials.

LG Chem introduces the direction of battery material technology to leap forward as the world's largest battery material company. The importance of materials is increasing as batteries are become the core driving force of electric vehicles, energy storage systems (ESS), and information technology (IT) devices. Materials determine performance.Young-min Choi, head of LG Chem's Battery Material Development Center, will introduce battery material business, starting with battery cathode materials. Choi will also present battery value chain, manufacturing cost, and environmental issues.

Companies that promote innovation through bold challenges and R&D will also participate in Global Tech Korea 2021. Min-gyu Kim, head of the Basic Technology Research Center of LG Innotek, which is recognized for its manufacturing competitiveness, will introduce key technologies for manufacturingDigital twins. Kim will share plans with detailed examples about a Digital twins plan that can reduce defects and maximize production capacity. Keon-young Lee, CEO of Xaos Motors, will announce LiDAR technology. LiDAR is considered a core technology for future mobility such as autonomous vehicles because it is able to recognize objects and people in three dimensions. There are still many challenges for development and commercialization. Xaos Motors, which developed LiDAR, will introduce the technology status in detail.

Jun-ho Baek, CEO of Furiosa AI, will explain artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor chips that simultaneously process high-capacity data in a data center. Furiosa AI is a rare AI semiconductor startup in Korea. It plans to introduce chip expertise along with AI semiconductor technology that processes large-scale operations with low power.

In addition to LG, Samsung, and SK, emerging battery companies that have not been shown until now are also participating. Sung-min Oh, Vice President of Daejoo Electronic Materials, a company that is equipped with technologies for long-running, safe, and charging performance batteries, will share the commercialization technology for silicon anode material that improves battery charging speed and the development direction of next-generation silicon anode material technology. LG Energy Solutions will introduce silicon anode material technology, which was applied to the Porsche Taycan and commercialized for the first time in the world.

Enertech International, which is preparing to target the high-end electric vehicle market, will be presented by CEO Deok-geun Oh. Oh was appointed as an expert in the battery field as he became a major shareholder of Rosatom Enertech in Russia. He will not only share Enertech'spouch battery manufacturing technology, but also unveil for the first time a new cylindrical battery technology for the establishment of a Russian battery plant. Sang-ki Shin, CEO of Enerever Battery Solutions, will introduce its separator, which is preparing to be a new business. The separator is a key material that enhances battery safety. Jae-bum Park, senior researcher at POSCO Research Institute, is under the spotlight a technology that imporves the mileage of electric vehicles with battery cathode material technology. Park will unveil POSCO Group’s battery material technology and share plans for strengthening the group-wide supply chain for lithium and nickel raw materials to promote the cathode and anode material business.

'Global Tech Korea 2021' will be broadcast live on the online website. Those who pre-register on the website can watch it for free. Simultaneous interpretation in English is also provided in order to fulfill the purpose of the global technical cooperation conference. Pre-registration is until September 3rd.
