Woongjin is receiving attention as it has introduced “untact” method that carries out IT projects for its customers without having its customers visit its employees. This method is a win-win situation for Woongjin and its customers as they can both raise efficiency of personnel involved. As more companies begin to prohibit outsiders from visiting their companies due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, it is expected that level of interests towards non-face-to-face projects will become even higher.
Woongjin has applied “untact” method that is based on non-face-to-face development process to its development solution called “WRMS (Woongjin Rental Management System)”.
Until now, it has sent out its employees to its customers to establish IT systems. However, “untact” method does not require Woongjin’s employees to be sent out and it allows Woongjin to carry out projects within the company. Personnel involved in a project will thoroughly utilize the company’s IT resources and focus on designing processes. Its customers can also lower its burdens on managing personnel from Woongjin and focus just on its tasks such as participating in a final decision-making.
“Untact” method is made possible through the spread of cloud-based services. Woongjin carries out its projects by using technologies such as private cloud and network separation. It tightens its security by having a server designated for a project within its customer and it safely manages its customer’s information. When its employees are deployed to its customers, only limited personnel will handle the corresponding project.
“Although “untact” method allows us to carry out projects remotely, we also have personnel assigned effectively so that they can handle immediately towards an emergency situation.” said Director Shin Seong-cheol of Woongjin’s Rental Solution Business.

Woongjin has recently established WRMS for its customer Kookmin Rental using “untact” method. Without having to send out its employees to Kookmin Rental, it was able to establish WRMS remotely. It is also introducing WRMS for a medical and healthcare rental company through “untact” method. In addition to WRMS, Woongjin is also planning to apply “untact” method to ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system as well.
“Although there are still many customers who prefer IT projects to take place face-to-face, responses we have been getting from our customers regarding our “untact” method have been positive as there are clear advantages to it.” said President Lee Soo-young of Woongjin. “Starting with rental solutions, we are going to expand the range of our “untact” method towards SAP ERP and maximize advantages of our customers.”
Woongjin Group started developing its group by being the first South Korean business to introduce face-to-face door-to-door sales process. It has applied its “untact” business strategy to its IT subsidiary Woongjin and EduTech subsidiary Woongjin Thinkbig (smart home-study materials called smartAll) after selling Woongjin Coway. Its “untact” business is completely different from its face-to-face business that has brought success to the group. Woongjin Thinkbig has transformed itself as an EduTech company with Woongjin at the center. Woongjin Group’s customers are expanding Woongjin Group’s services as Woongjin and Woongjin Thinkbig are quickly going through digital transformation.
