Samsung Electronics has decided on a roadmap for Galaxy Note 8 sales. Although duration of preorder dates will be shorter than that of Galaxy S8, duration of pre-activation dates is longer than that of Galaxy S8. Galaxy Note 8 will hit stores on the 15th of September.
Samsung Electronics is going to announce Galaxy Note 8 in New York on the 23rd (U.S. time). Samsung Electronics and 3 South Korean mobile network providers are going to hold events at ever Samsung Digital Plazas in South Korea and mobile network providers’ retail stores between the 25th and the 31st of August so that people can experience Galaxy Note 8 beforehand.
Samsung Electronics is going to hold preorder period between the 1st and the 10th of September. At 9 A.M. on the 11th, 3 South Korean mobile network providers are going to have events for activating Galaxy Note 8s at their designated retail stores. Considering the fact that these events are going to be held on Monday morning, they are going to compete against each other starting from that weekend in order to become the first, the second, and the third mobile network provider to activate Galaxy Note 8.
Followed by these events, they are going to activate Galaxy Note 8s that are pre-ordered in an order for 4 days from the 11th until the 14th. Although duration of preorder dates is one day shorter than that of Galaxy S8, duration of pre-activation dates is one day longer. This is Samsung Electronics’ intention to minimize any inconvenience for customers by preparing for any delay in activation that may occur due to discrepancies in supply and demand of models with particular colors.
Official release date of Galaxy Note 8 is the 15th of September. Consumers who are not going to preorder Galaxy Note 8s can also purchase them at any retail stores of mobile network providers in South Korea, mobile network providers’ official online shops, and Samsung Digital Plazas.
During preorder period (11 days) for Galaxy S8 that took place in April, Samsung Electronics recorded 1 million preorders for Galaxy S8, which is the first time ever for Samsung Electronics’ Smartphones. It will be interesting to see if number of preorder for Galaxy Note 8 will surpass 1 million during its preorder period (10 days). Mobile network providers are expecting that there will be significant amount of demands for Galaxy Note 8 as it is practically Samsung Electronics’ new Smartphone in the past 2 years due to recall of Galaxy Note 7. They are also predicting that recovery of trust regarding safety issues of batteries and expansion of language support of Bixby will also have positive impact on sales volume of Galaxy Note 8.
“We are going to be fully ready so that there aren’t any setbacks regarding Galaxy Note 8 sales.” said a representative for a mobile network provider. “It will be important to see how much of initial supplies mobile network providers can secure since they expect that there will be many early buyers of Galaxy Note 8s.”
