‘SID (Society for Information Display) Display Week’, which is known as a festival in global display industries, will primarily focus on development of applied OLED technologies this year. Interests from markets have grown towards influence of OLED technologies as OLED industry celebrates thirtieth anniversary of research in OLED.
‘SID Display Week 2017’ will be held at Los Angeles Convention Center from the 21st till the 26th. Including technology seminars and business seminars, many new products and technologies will be exhibited by display companies. 7,000 people attended last year’s SID Display Week and SID predicts that there will be more attendees this year.
This year’s technology symposium will include AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality), digital signage, applied products, automotive display infotainment, display materials and processes, and wearable display. AR, VR, and wearable display areas especially have their own conferences set up which indicates more interests from related markets.
Because this year is the thirtieth year since research in OLED started, SID is going to hold a commemorative event for thirtieth anniversary of OLED. It is going to invite and congratulate Professor Ching W. Tang, who was the first one to develop green OLED light emitting diode, and Professor Steven Van Slyke and shed light on current values of OLED in display industries.

Exhibitions for products and technologies will be held as well.
Major companies such as Samsung Display, LG Display, Tianma, and BOE and display-relevant companies are also going to introduce their products and new technologies. Startup companies, laboratories, small and medium companies, and universities that have developed new technologies and products are going to participate in ‘I-Zone’, which is an exhibition for innovative technologies and products. These companies and universities will be selected by SID After it goes through a preliminary evaluation.
On the other hand, SID newly established ‘Women in Tech Panel’ this year for female technicians in variety of industries. Major technicians from companies and universities such as CTO Julie Brown of Universal Display and CEO Candace Brown Elliott of Nouvoyance will participate in this panel and discuss about insights and experiences in variety of industries.
