Samsung Electronics’ breeze-free air conditioners are becoming very popular during a preorder period as summer season is approaching. Number of purchase from consumers is increasing greatly as it has added wall-hanging breeze-free air conditioners followed by stand-type breeze-free air conditioners that were released last year. Samsung Electronics’ plan is to increase its market shares even more by riding popularity of breeze-free air conditioners.
According to industries on the 17th, it is heard that Samsung Electronics’ shares in domestic markets for air conditioners are within 60% range this year.
Samsung Electronics’ shares in domestic markets for air conditioners were 56% (based on GFK) in last year. Its shares increased rapidly as its breeze-free air conditioners, which were introduced for the first time in 2016, brought sensation. This year, it has added wall-hanging breeze-free air conditioners to its stand-type breeze-free air conditioners and has secured two-in-one system by doing so.
It has also widened gap between itself and other new companies in domestic markets for air conditioners through popularity of breeze-free air conditioners. 85% of South Korea’s air conditioners markets are occupied by Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics.
“Due to popularity of breeze-free air conditioners in 2016, difference in shares of Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics became bigger.” said a representative for an industry. “Although it is still early 2017, difference in shares has become even bigger this year.”
It is expected that wall-hanging breeze-free air conditioners will also be popular overseas. Number of demands for wall-hanging breeze-free air conditioners is higher than number of demands for stand-type breeze-free air conditioners in North America and Europe. Samsung Electronics established SEACE (Samsung Electronics Air Conditioner Europe), which is an European sales corporate for air conditioner, in last year and is rapidly working to go after foreign air conditioner markets.
Samsung Electronics has expanded towards markets for system air conditioners with breeze-free air conditioners. Samsung Electronics declared its entrance into markets for breeze-free system air conditioner markets by introducing ‘Breeze-Free 1Way Cassette’, which is a ceiling type indoor unit product, for the first time in last March. It also applied breeze-free concept to its world’s first circular system air conditioner called ‘360 Cassette’. Because these products distribute cool air evenly and maintain coolness while not having its cool air directly touch consumers, these products can increase level of satisfaction of consumers from stores and others.
Samsung Electronics’ breeze-free air conditioning technology quickly reaches comfortable temperature that consumers desire through powerful and speedy air conditioning and evenly distributes cool air through ‘micro holes’ that are located in the front of breeze-free air conditioners. Because cool air does not directly touch consumers, breeze-free air conditioners implement comfortable and effective air conditioning system.
Samsung Electronics’ breeze-free air conditioners have excellent power-saving effect. When breeze-free air conditioning mode is operated after desirable temperature is reached, electricity consumption can be reduced by up to 85% compared to current air conditioners.
“Not only do breeze-free air conditioners provide comfortable and cool air but they are also economic since they greatly reduce electricity consumption.” said a representative for Samsung Electronics. “Their usage is high in all seasons due to variety of functions such as air purification and dehumidification.” This representative also said that Samsung Electronics’ goal is to have its market shares increase by one more step than last year and have them above 60%.”
