Youbicom is strengthening its local government project with semi-permanent wireless remote meter reading system.
Youbicom (CEO Cho Tae-won) has supplied ICT-based wireless remote meter reading system called ‘UbiAmi’ to 12 local governments such as Gyeongju-si in Gyeongbuk, Gapyeong-gun in Gyeonggi-do, and 1,300 places in Hwacheon-gun. It is going to establish its system in 4,500 places in Gangwon-do and 10,000 places in Gyeonggi-do in 2017.
UbiAmi, which remotely reads amount of water, electricity, and gas use, utilizes 424HMz frequency that is meant for outdoor purposes to monitor variety of amount of energy use such as water, electricity, and gas through wireless connection. Not only Youbicom receiving demands from local governments but it is also receiving demands from factories and apartments.
Fact that maintenance and repair cost are not expensive once system is established as more than 10 years of battery life is guaranteed is another main cause of expansion of UbiAmi.
“One can check amount of use, irregularity of gauges, and water leak at once through a server.” said CEO Cho Tae-won. “System also can work semi-permanently through equipment such as repeater, concentrator, and solar battery. Currently 30,000 UbiAmis are installed and being operated at 36 sites. Youbicom’s unique technical skills can also be seen through Smart power-saving system called ‘ECO-G’. ECO-G is a real-time energy monitoring and control system that is linked to temperature, current and human body sensors.
ECO-G optimizes use of energy by controlling household appliances such as light and air conditioner that used to be controlled individually from a central system. It can also reduce amount of energy use by monitoring temperature in real time and controlling energy use per location. Not only users can easily control temperature but they also can save electricity bills. Currently 10,000 ECO-Gs are installed at 136 sites including LG Electronics, Hanyang University, University of Seoul, Induk Institute of Technology and others.
“We are increasing amount of investments for R&D to develop new products.” said CEO Cho. “We are also preparing for foreign businesses that will supply electricity AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) to Malaysia, Indonesia, and India.”
