Netmarble Games is going to release a mobile MMORPG game called ‘Lineage 2: Revolution’ in October.
NCSOFT’s online game called ‘Lineage 2’ is the original version. Lineage 2: Revolution is the first co-project made by NCSOFT and Netmarble Games after they made mutual equity investment. NCSOFT provided resource while Netmarble Neo made Lineage 2: Revolution.
“We had focused on making a more popular and more advanced game than previous games based on knowhow that we have accumulated in the past.” said CEO Kwon Yeong-sik of Netmarble Neo (CEO of Netmarble Games). “Goal of Revolution, which inherits Lineage 2’s feel as it is, is to become the most loved game in South Korea’s mobile game history.”
Lineage 2: Revolution brings Lineage 2’s blood alliance system, real-time siege warfare, and open field as they are.
Based on Unreal 4 Engine, Lineage 2: Revolution reinterprets landmarks of Lineage 2 such as talking island and dragon valley and characters such as human, elf, dark-elf, and dwarf. Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5 satisfy its minimum requirements.
“We had focused on making a game that allows people to enjoy contents and graphics at the level of PC MMORPG even on mobile devices.” said Park Beom-jin who oversees Netmarble Neo’s game development. “Real-time battle is possible throughout South Korea without any limitations in space and time even when people connect to it at the same timeand it provides variety of quest patterns such as guarding, collecting and others just like PC MMORPG.”
Netmarble Games introduced play of siege warfare at a press conference that was held at Glad Hotel in Yeoouido on the 11th and is planning to grow siege warfare as e-sports content. It is also going to focus on making a community for users by completely utilizing a fact that up to 1,600 people can connect to Lineage 2: Revolution at the same time.

Starting with reservation for Lineage 2: Revolution on the 11th, Netmarble Games is going to test it in September and release it in South Korea in October. Starting from next year, it is going to release Lineage 2: Revolution in global markets such as China and Japan.
China’s Tencent will be in charge of publishing it. It is going to make a separate Chinese version by applying demands and marketability in China.
Netmarble Games is going to establish a task force that will be in charge of Lineage 2: Revolution so that it can be readily launched in South Korea. It is planning to establish a comprehensive system that makes responses quickly and effectively by placing person in charge per world server and managing a task force for service.
Currently total of 6 mobile game projects are taking place through IPs of Lineage 1 and 2.
Beside of Lineage 2: Revolution, ‘Lineage 2: Alliance (Snail Games in China), Lineage Red Knights (NC)’, ‘Lineage M (NC)’, and ‘Lineage 2 Legend (NC)’ are also going to be released in this year and next year. Netmarble Games is developing mobile games based on Lineage.
As IPs are being used simultaneously in global markets, competitions in markets are very fierce.
“South Korea’s mobile game industry has enough competitive edge in an aspect of quality as its ecosystem has moved on from PC.” said CEO Kwon. “Especially graphics and actions can be differentiated from others.”
