It is shown that one out of two drum washing machines that were sold in the U.S. during first half of this year is from South Korean brand. LG Electronics is most likely going to be the top seller once again for 10 years in a row as its share is almost 30%. Samsung Electronics also maintained its second place by consistently increasing its share.
According to an American market research company called Stevenson Company on the 25th, LG Electronics recorded first place for its share during first half of this year based on sales from drum washing machines by recording 27.2% of share. It also recorded first place from premium product lines that cost more than $900 by recording 32.8% of share.
LG Electronics maintained first place during second quarter by recording 28.1% of share and broadened the gap from second place by more than 6%. It also recorded first place from premium product lines during second quarter by recording 31.3% of share.
TWINWash that was released by LG Electronics at the end of last year has helped to increase sales of drum washing machines. Mini-Wash that is integrated with current drum washing machine was sold twice more in second quarter than first quarter.

Expensive model of TWINWash is the most expensive washing machine out of washing machines that are sold at major distributors in the U.S. by costing about $2,500. If one purchases dryer also then it costs almost $5,000.
After becoming the first place in drum washing markets in the U.S. in 2007, LG Electronics maintained its place for 9 years in a row until last year. It also has high expectations that it will maintain its first place for 10 years in a row as it broadened the gap from second place during first half of this year.
Samsung Electronics recorded second place in share from first half by recording 21.5%. Samsung Electronics is growing its drum washing machine business as it increased its share by more than 5% in just 2 years when it recorded 16.2% in 2013.
Followed by LG Electronics and Samsung Electronic were Whirlpool (15.3%), Kenmore (10.1%), and Maytag (9.7%).
“We are going to maintain our first place by putting out premium products like TWINWash in American markets that are the biggest battlegrounds for global household appliance manufacturers.” said President Cho Seong-jin of LG Electronics’ H&A Business Headquarters.
