Mobile atmospheric plasma equipment that is easy to carry is released by a South Korean business.
APP (CEO Kang Bang-kwon) made an announcement on the 4th that it has developed ‘Plami’, which is atmospheric plasma equipment with good mobility and weighs only about 10kg, and will be releasing it in this month. “We are the first business in South Korea to develop atmospheric plasma equipment that weighs about 10kg and have implemented a vacuuming plasma quality.” said APP.
Plami is atmospheric plasma equipment that treats surfaces. It is used to clean surfaces during processes of manufacturing displays, cellphones, and PCBs before bonding and coating, printing, and lamination processes. It is based on dry cleansing using plasma unlike previous wet cleansing that uses alcohol. By creating plasma in atmospheric pressure by using argon, helium, and oxygen, it carefully inspects surface of materials and eliminates organic materials. It creates a hydrophilic surface to improve printability and adhesive property. It can treat almost any kind of materials such as plastics, metals, glasses, ceramics, and mixed materials.
Exterior of Plami is composed of RF generator, gas utility, Stage, and plasma head. Because it only weighs about 10kg, it has good mobility unlike previous plasma equipment. Fact that it can be easily attached to variety of systems that are located in production lines is its another strength.

“While most of plasma equipment is huge and heavy, Plami is very light and mobile.” said CEO Kang Bang-kwon of APP. “Unlike other plasma equipment, it does not require chambers, vacuum pumps, and supplementary installations.”
APP increased a distance between a head (electrode) and power (matcher) by more than 5m so that one can easily work on plasma by holding onto an object that he or she is working on. Previously, it was hard to work on plasma by holding an object. “Not only does Plami have good portability, it is possible to work on plasma by holding it since there are no limitations in distance due to a RF cable.” said CEO Kang. “Because it does not create ozone and nitrogen oxide even though it uses its own method of inspection, one can use Plami without any worries.”
APP will be producing Plami for demonstration, agency, research, and mass-production purposes. By receiving positive responses for many functions such as portability, APP decided to export Plami to the U.S. and Singapore last month which is before its official release date. “We are going to display Plami at an exhibition that is being held in China in March and actively export Plami to countries such as the U.S., China and others.” said CEO Kang.
