Wooree Lighting is entering OLED lighting markets and it will be the second South Korean business after LG Display to introduce OLED lightings.
Wooree Lighting (CEO Choi Kyu-sung) made an announcement on the 15th that it has developed OLED stand (product name: Color-One OLED Stand) and it will start selling it starting from next month.
Characteristic of this product is that it uses OLED as its source of light. OLED gives out light that does not give fatigue to one’s eyes by producing wavelength that is very similar to natural light.
Because it has low electricity consumption and heat, it is seen as eco-friendly lighting. Besides from applying OLED to OLED stand, Wooree Lighting also installed wireless charging function so that Smartphones can be charged through this stand.
LG Display was the only South Korean business until now to commercialize OLED lighting. Wooree Lighting explained that it has developed OLED product that represents next-generation’s source of light to challenge other businesses in global lighting market and to lead in this market.
“We are also planning to expand our business towards lighting that is combined with IoT.” said a representative for Wooree Lighting.
According to a market research company called UBI Industry Research, it is estimated that global OLED lighting market will grow 10 times within 5 years and will be worth about $1.61 billion (1.9 trillion KRW).
