SK telecom and ERICCSON are co-developing next generation’s Internet of Small Things in high-capacity.

Both companies have decided that they will co-develop service as well as research on Machine Type Communication (MTC) technology that supports communication in a large size between Small Things that transmit and receive low amount of information in LTE network.

MTC that SK telecom and ERICSSON are co-developing is a technology that supports data transmission between Small Things in LTE network. It provides low-speed transmission that is appropriate for equipments that do not have large amounts of data transmission.

They are also planning to standardize and commercialize MTC as soon as possible, which is being discussed in 3GPP.

Director Park Jin Hyo is hoping that this development will be a technical foundation for Hyper-connected society.
