LG Electronics secured many key technologies that help electronic cars with improving their efficiency and mileage. They also developed a platform in which raises each part’s efficiency up to 20%. This is the result of putting together electric powertrain core parts and electronic device, and engineering capability. It is forecasting that LG Electronics is targeting an electric car’s parts market full-fledged.
LG Electronics introduced electric car’s main parts and light weight platform at EVS28 exhibition that opened in Ilsan Kintex on the 3rd.This is the first time it’s attending public exhibition, and it shows that they now have confidence in developing electric car’s parts against its competitors.It developed electric PowerTrain unit such as motor drive, inverter, and reducer that are responsible for electric car’s drive.
Drive motor secured an output range of 80~120 kW and an output efficiency of 96%. Also an inverter, which controls motor’s RPM and power, achieved 97% efficiency by having maximum output of 120 kW and self actuating algorithm. This shows that their motor drive and inverter’s efficiency and output are at world class level. LG Electronics also introduced Belt-Integrated Starter and Generator (B-ISG) that operates on 48V. This system’s special feature is that it has higher motor output than a product that operates on 12V. Also it can elevate city mileage by 10% by improving subsidiary performance of a motor. LG Electronics’ skills on 48V B-ISG system are receiving a lot of attention since competition between global automobiles and automobile part supplier is speeding up. It also introduced optimized light weight platform, which can equip high capacity battery pack and reduce car’s weight by 20% by applying composite materials.
LCD panels that are for electric cars were also introduced. These parts secured system’s safety by having car processor and graphic processor acting independently. They also provide driving information that depends on various driving conditions. In addition electronic compressor, which applies accumulated know-how from appliance market, first introduced to the public.ByongJoon Sohn, who serves as a director at LG Electronics (charge of H&M ED at VC headquarters) said “In this day and age where car parts are becoming more electronic , we are invited to participate EVS exhibition as we lead in innovating core parts of smart cars.”Meanwhile WoongPil Yang, who serves as a director at LG Electronics (charge of e-PT BD), is presenting a keynote speech about Long Range EV Battery Pack at EVS28 on the 5th.
