Samsung SDI is targeting China, which has become the biggest global market for electric car, with their battery component parts for electric cars.
Samsung SDI has revealed their battery cell·module·pack·low voltage battery system (LVS) for electric cars and also their materials for structural part for vehicles at the ‘Shanghai Motor Show (Auto Shanghai) 2015’ that opened on 20th (local time). This is the second motor show in China, following the Beijing motor show last year.
Samsung SDI had displayed various types of battery cells such as 37Ah·94Ah in their 200㎡ display section. They are planning to produce battery cell products for electric vehicle (EV)·plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and more, accordingly to the China’s new energy car distribution policy. Once confirmed, they will be producing products at their newly constructing factories in Xian.
The standard module that maximized each battery’s advantages has been revealed. The battery cell exterior does not change much even though the energy usage increases like a pouch battery. Previous battery design may be used.
LVS that can replace or support the internal combustion car’s lead storage battery has been displayed as well. If LVS is installed, fuel efficiency system installment·operation becomes possible and reduce emission of carbon dioxide.
President Namsung Cho of Samsung SDI said, “China’s electric car market is becoming world’s biggest, even bigger than IT field, electric car market. With the construction of Xian factories, we’ll set up a organized production center and approach China market.”
