Hyundai MnSOFT will upgrade their smartphone navigation ‘Mappy with Daum’ to complex service platform.
With Navigation as base, User Experiences (UX) such as music and news are accumulated to make it into a platform for vehicles. New members are increasing fast since last year’s May.
Hyundai MnSOFT announced on the 15th that Mappy with Daum will provide music and news services addition to its previous navigation service. The company has already signed contract with free music providing company, ‘Beat’ and started its music service. They are still in process of signing contract with broadcasting companies in order to put up news contents on the navigation screen.
Securing safety is a very important part of Mappy with Daum. This service allows the user to not only navigate through navigation app but also enjoy various multimedia services. With the recently popularized mirroring solution, convenience for usage is excellent. Mirroring is a technology that displays smartphone screen onto AVN (audio, video, navigation) monitor within the vehicle. AVN can be controlled via smartphone and vice-versa. Once Mappy brings in more services, customers demand will surely increase.
The company evaluated that growth possibility to complex service platform was very high because the spread of the service was fast after its official service launch. Mappy came out in last year May and have recorded 1,200,000 downloads just in 10 months. Usually it takes one year for a general navigation app to reach 1,000,000 downloads.
Hyundai MnSOFT will first put their effort in reinforcing and upgrading the navigation function itself. Map is updated once every two weeks, app once a month, and building information every week.
Using the Big Data, company reinforced ‘Quick Route Search’ feature by developing traffic analyzing algorithm ‘Q-STA’ and ‘C-STA’. Hyundai MnSOFT is planning to create an widget just for this feature in order to increase the number of users.
Service strategy manager Soojin Ahn of Hyundai MnSOFT said, “The fact that number of mobile navigation users is continually rising gives us enough motivation for growth and development. With variety of additional services, we will expand the UX and eventually upgrade the app to a complex service platform.”
