OD Hitec (CEO Yim Robin), specializing in special displays including transparent displays, announced on January 27 that it developed and began to supply the ‘Magic LCD Display,’ which you can see only when you wear special glasses or use a special device.

The key to the Magic LCD display is the removal of the polarized film from the LCD. The polarized film serves as the aperture. Without the polarized film, the screen looks blurred. If you wear special glasses with the polarized film, however, you can see the original images clearly.

For the sake of security, a security filter, which blocks the reflection of light and makes images visible only from a certain angle, was used in the past, but it is the first product that enables perfect security by making it impossible to see the images on the bare LCD.

OD Hitec recently filed a patent application for the technology it used when developing the product. The company is planning to supply this product as ATM monitors and security monitors or to security technology research institutes. It is also seeking to supply it to exhibition halls or museums that require security.

The Magic LCD display comes in various sizes ranging from 3.5 inches to 84 inches. The company will custom-make the display as desired by customers.

OD Hitec is also trying to export it. It will present the display at Hong Kong Electronics Fair Spring Edition, scheduled to be held in Hong Kong in May, and at Infocomm held in Las Vegas, US in June Las Vegas, US, and recruit local buyers and vendors.

“The Magic LCD Display is a new technology product different than the products we have developed and supplied to domestic and overseas markets, e.g. transparent monitors and outdoor displays that do not reflect light,” said Yim Robin. “We are planning to develop ATM and special security monitor markets that require security with focus on China and Europe as well as Korea.”
