LG Electronics announced on January 25 that it would release the ‘Ice Cream Smart,’ a new folder-type smartphone, following the ‘Wine Smart,’ through LG Uplus. The Ice Cream phone series, which was first launched back in 2008, used to be very popular among the youths thanks to its emotional pastel-tone colors.

Like the Wine Smart that was released last September, the Ice Cream smart has the Kakao Talk physical button. It kept the intuitive user experience (UX), e.g. the cool screen interface with 3 rows and 3 columns, and the ‘simple settings,’ which makes it possible to set up the mobile phone easily and quickly. These features were well received in the Wine Smart. If you choose the ‘Keep apps running when closed’ setting, the applications you are using will not end even if you close the folder and open it again.

“The Ice Cream smart is a hybrid folder phone that has all the advantages of a folder phone and a smartphone,” said Cho Joon-ho, CEO of the MC Company of LGE. “Along with the ‘Wine Smart’ for the middle-aged users and the character smartphone ‘AKA,’ this product will provide customers with differentiated smart experience.”

The Ice Cream smart is scheduled to be priced just over KRW300,000.
