Experience area and exhibition space built over a site of approximately 1,322m2, will be opened as early as the end of next month

A large-scale 3D printing experience area will be installed in ‘Yongsan Electronics Shopping Mall,’ a center of electronics industry in Korea. This is anticipated to produce synergy as the government is accelerating 3D printing industry development as a next-generation growth item.

According to the industry on the 18th, Najin Industries will build ‘Cooperative Space of Infinite Creativity’ including a 3D printing experience area over a site measuring approximately 1,322m2 on the ground floor of Najin Shopping Mall Building 14 inside E-World in Yongsan, Seoul. This project was planned and has been promoted by Najin Industries, an E-World management company, since last year. This facility will be opened officially at the end of next month or early March at the latest.

Cooperative Space of Infinite Creativity will offer a range of 3D printing related facilities in order to develop Yongsan into the ‘Mecca of 3D printing.’ This facility will comprise of ‘Seoul 3D Printing Experience Center’ together with a remote controller store, an education and experience center, a seminar room and an exhibition and event space.

Seoul 3D Printing Experience Center can be visited by anyone interested in 3D printing including students. This area is equipped with eight fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printers that melt and layer up the raw ingredients to create 3D figures, two 3D printers applied with digital light processing (DLP) technology and a 3D scanner.

3D printer developers Carima and Rokit, a 3D modeling program manufacturer and distributor Inteli Korea, a 3D scanner maker Onscans, a 3D printing solution provider STL and a 3D design provider Sculpy will open shops in the facility. The tenants in Seoul 3D Printing Experience Center can receive information about equipment, material and market trends from industry experts. Najin Industries has set out a policy to continuously increase tenants.

Najin Industries anticipates that Cooperative Space of Infinite Creativity will contribute considerably to the electronics shopping mall activation. “Yongsan was famous as a computer-centered electronics shopping mall. However, it is attempting to change into a center of creative industry, such as for 3D printing, according to the latest trend,” said Najin Industries CEO Lee Seok-jin. Najin Industries will provide a creative R&D environment together with educational programs in order to promote 3D printing startup activation within this facility.

The event space, which will be set up over a site of around 330m2, will be used to host 3D printer equipment contests, 3D printer product exhibitions and 3D printer artists’ exhibitions. In addition, to achieve 3D printer equipment and software industry development, entry to Yongsan by related industries will be promoted. A number of companies, such as 3D video productions, game developers and animation productions as well as medical engineering software developers have applied for tenancy in the facility.

This facility is anticipated to produce various synergic effects with the government’s projects for 3D printing application. Together with local governments, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning will establish 3D printing utilization bases in seven locations across the country this year. These bases will mainly be installed in local areas. The government will also establish an online general information system for linked management of these base centers. As for Najin Shopping Mall, it will cooperate actively with the government so as to make Cooperative Space of Infinite Creativity serve as a space where individuals can display their full creative potentials. “For this facility to serve as a space of creation where individual ideas are realized, Government’s continued interest and support are necessary,” said Najin Industries CEO Lee. “We will strive to establish it as a space for idea development and substantial business startup rather than simply to focus on education.”
