Samsung Electronics will release the 2015 next-generation TV ‘SUHD TV’ in the domestic market next month for the first time in the world. In March and April the company will release it in the US and European markets as well to reinforce its global marketing.

Kim Hyeon-seok, head of Samsung Electronics Visual Display (VD) Business Division (CEO) met with reporters on January 14 on his way to a meeting of CEOs at Samsung Electronics Building in Seocho-dong, Seoul, and said, “Early next month after the IR at the end of January IR, we will release the SUHD TV in the domestic market to coincide with the launch of our new products for 2015.” As for overseas markets, he added, “According to the order of materials supply, it will be released in the US in March and in Europe in April.”

About LG Electronics’ putting the OLED TV at the center of the premium models, he said, “Samsung Electronics already accounts for 60% of the UHD TV market and is doing very well,” appearing confident that SEC will retain the No. 1 position in TV. “We have already secured related technologies,” he said about Sony’s superslim TV with a 4.9㎜ bezel. “We will have to wait and see what’s going to happen in the market.”

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is planning to apply ‘Tizen’ as the smart TV OS to all its new TV models it will release this year, and expand the curved TV lineups.
