COMART System (CEOs Yoo Dong-gyun & Seol Chang-hoon), specializing in special digital cameras and recording systems, was the first domestic company to announce a high-speed camera last September, and announced on December 22 that it would release the 480fps (480 frames per second) high-speed camera with the VGA (640×480) resolution, ‘HSC-D480,’ and a recording solution.

The high-speed camera is used for the slow video images in sports broadcasting or for analysis of images in various laboratories, e.g. analysis of car crashes. It is used to shoot 300~3000fps images, tens or hundreds of times faster than ordinary cameras.

The storage device for high-speed cameras, released by COMART System, can record large quantities of data generated by high-speed cameras in real time.

Seol Chang-hoon, CEO of COMART System, said, “If you do high-speed shooting, there is so much data that you cannot transmit the data to an external storage device. So ordinarily you used to insert a large-capacity SDRAM in the high-speed camera to store the data, but to record images for a long time, you had to use expensive products with an expensive high-capacity SDRAM.”

As the HSC-D480, developed by COMART System, makes it possible to store the data in the PC hard disk drive (HDD) without resorting to the built-in SDRAM, you can do high-speed camera shooting and recording at a low cost. The HSC-D480 is a high-speed camera that can shoot 480 frames per second at the VGA resolution.

Mr. Seol said, “We succeeded in using the high-speed data transmission technology called the host interface to transmit 480 frames per second to the PC.” The host interface is in the form of a PCI Express type of card inserted into the PC. If it is connected to the high-speed camera, it can transmit up to 12Gbps.

If the host interface solution of COMART System is used, it is possible to record the 1.8Gbps data, generated by a VGA resolution high-speed camera (480fps), in the PC hard disk for a long time. Also, the company said, the 7.6Gbps data, generated by an FHD (1920×1080) resolution high-speed camera (340fps), can be stored in the PC. COMART System is planning to develop a system that can transmit up to 24Gbps.

COMART System is planning to propose the high-speed camera and real-time recording solution it developed to industrial sites (robot assembly lines), government-invested research institutes and university research institutes. In particular, considering user convenience, the company will cooperate with domestic sports (golf, swimming, baseball, etc.), bio and motion analysis software companies to accelerate its marketing efforts, e.g. providing various analysis programs at an affordable price.
