Apple’s iPad2 is launched in Korea by SK Telecom and KT on April 29. Its subscription sales begin on April 23. The price, due to the foreign exchange fluctuation, is likely to go down a little bit from that of the preceding model. The new tablet PC landed on a group of 26 countries first, including the United States. Korea was excluded from that group. According to both mobile carriers, it is owing to the period for administrative procedures here. Currently, both SK Telecom and KT have finished their basic talks with Apple for launching the product. However, they are still discussing such matters as the price, quantity to be supplied and warranty service. The price is not fixed yet as the won-dollar exchange rate, one of the most critical factors to set the price, is still unsettled. In the meantime, KT CEO Lee Suk-chae turned up at the release show in the U.S., invited by Apple. Some said that Apple showed its appreciation by inviting him, who had helped its products enjoy a great popularity among Korean customers by releasing iPhones and iPad one after another.
