Korea`s leading firms in the medical information industry like BIT Computer Co., Ltd., INFINITT TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd. and I Isu UBcare Co., Ltd. are moving fast toward aggressive marketing by raising the sales target by 42 to 90 percent from last year.
The industry said on Sunday that these medical information system providers have decided to greatly increase sales by focusing on their core business like electronic medical record (EMR), online distribution of medical information (B2B) and picture archiving communication system (PAS).
Among them, BIT Computer plans to reap 40 billion won in sales this year, up nearly 90 percent compared to last year. To that end, the company intends to focus on the EMR market for small- and medium-sized hospitals.
Especially, it will aggressively target the increasing demand for picture EMR which is easier to adopt and use for small-hospitals than the text EMR for large hospitals, while strengthening its remote medical treatment operation.
“The adoption rate of EMR in small hospitals stands at merely 10 percent, thus leaving a substantial room for further growth. In this regard, its market will also become lively, as small hospitals have seen their productivity rising by adopting the EMR," said the company.
Infinitt also set the sales target of 46 billion won this year, up almost 42 percent from last year. To accomplish the target, the firm has decided to obtain some 7 million dollars worth of orders from abroad. The figure was 4 million dollars last year.
Moreover, it plans to raise brand awareness for its PACS solution in overseas markets including America, Japan and Taiwan. In particular, it will set up a R&D center in China to secure local talents and enhance its R&D capability there.
"In order to cement our position at home, we will lead the domestic clinic market by launching a series of new products like PACS and three-dimensional workstations for clinics. We will also focus on improving customer satisfaction by providing distinctive maintenance services," said the company.
As for Isu UBcare, it plans to reap 45 billion won in sales this year, up 63 percent compared to last year.
It will harvest more than 50 percent of its sales target from the medical B2B business by focusing on pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and health food supplement.
In addition, the company intends to expand its medical IT business including the EMR for clinics as well as mobile healthcare service operations.
"We chose medical B2B business as our key growth engine this year, as various B2B channels including MediOn, which we acquired last year, are starting to settle down," said a company official.
