A new-concept security certification aimed at preventing ID and password theft has been introduced.

B1 Plus said on Monday that it had launched ‘TheNuri’ security certification service, in which users get a call to enter a password with their mobile phones after logging in with an ID over an Internet site.

The new service is designed to ensure protection of personal information by requiring users to enter a password over mobile phone upon logging in.

Users do not have to copy a certification number appearing over the handset to an Internet site, and instead they just can enter a password upon getting a call. TheNuri service is expected to be widely adopted for TV commerce adopting IPTV.

A password is made of alphabet letters and Arabic numbers, with the first alphabet-letter part entered over the Internet and the second Arabic-number part over the mobile phone.

The technology is also expected to boost security of e-commerce by requiring users to enter the first part of their credit card number over the Internet and the second part over the mobile phone when paying in credit card.

B1 Plus is already providing the technology to test service of T-Commerce, KT IPTV service. The company was established by a graduate from POS Tech, and retains patent technologies.

"This is a new-concept certification service designed to authenticate users with their mobile phones," said Kim Hyeong-min, CEO of the company. "It boasts enhanced security and more user-friendly features, and is expected to be applied for a wide range of areas."
