To expand fund/management support to technological innovati

Win-win cooperation activities between SK Hynix and semiconductor suppliers are bearing fruit. Cases reached 50,000 for supporting technical analysis and measurement of semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment (MPE) suppliers. With the support of SK Hynix, partner companies can now strengthen their technological competitiveness and spur MPE product localization. SK Hynix plans to expand the scope of technology and training support for partners to strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem.

SK hynixannounced on the 28ththat the total use of its technology cooperation platform 'Analysis and Measurement Support Center' by its partners exceeded 49,000 cases this month. A total of 72 partners have used the support center so far. This is an achievement 2.5 years after its opening. Last year alone, 52 partners recorded 20,000 use cases. As the companies receiving help from the support center is rapidly increasing, it is expected that the cumulative use will easily exceed 50,000 within this year.

SK Hynix opened the Analysis and Measurement Support Center this April 2018. The goal is to revitalize the semiconductor ecosystem by sharing SK Hynix’s technology and infrastructure with SME partners.

Semiconductor partners need to evaluate and verify whether MPE work well in the real semiconductor line to develop and supply them. However, most suppliers conduct evaluations through external agencies as they lack expensive analysis and measurement equipment, facing product performance and quality problems due to differences from the actual semiconductor production environment.

To solve this problem, SK Hynix Analysis and Measurement Support Center supports partners’ product properties analysis, chemical analysis, and measurement services through the latest equipment. Also, it provides high-quality analysis result data including analysis opinions of onsite experts to its partners.
An SK Hynix official said, "The sustainable growth and development of K-semiconductor has limitations to be led by semiconductor manufacturers such as SK Hynix alone. Through Analysis& Measurement Support Center, we will be able to contribute to the growth of semiconductor ecosystem by expanding our partners’ technological competitiveness of, developing localized products, and improving quality management.”

In July, SK Hynix built a new 'Analysis Technology Center' by bringing the spread-out analysis manpower and infrastructure on the SK Hynix campus in one place. SK Hynix plans to unify the support of partners, previously distributed in multiple buildings, to increase thespeed of R&D and quality competitiveness improvement.

SK Hynix plans to expand and apply environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management to the entire semiconductor ecosystem. As part of it, SK decided to expand 'Technology Innovation Company' program, which selects companies with high technology potential and supports them in various areas such as technology, finance, and management. The selectedfirms can borrow interest-free technology development funds, and their products can be tested and applied to the SK Hynix production line for performance evaluation. SK Hynix plans to expand the scope of technological innovation companies from the existing MPE to companies with technologies that can create social value, and flexibly operate the joint period from 2 to 5 years depending on the technical difficulty and development schedule.

SK Hynix said, “We share our expertise and know-how with our suppliers by operating a semiconductor academy to foster HR and strengthen suppliers’ competitiveness. We expect this win-win cooperation will ultimately create a virtuous cycle that improves K-semiconductor competitiveness and contributes to the national economy.”
